When It Was A Game is a nostalgic look at what baseball was and what it has become since the advent of free-agency and the massive amounts of money spent on players salaries. The bidding wars have desimated team chemistry. The teams with the most money can bid for the best players.
Back in the 50's even some of the star players weren't millionaires. A lot of the players lived in the neighborhoods with regular folk. Now teams change players so much from year to year that your favorite player on your favorite team for any length of time is a thing of the past. Players can no longer play for one team for their whole career.
This song remembers some of the great baseball players like, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sandy Koufax. |
